Stories of the lads

Home / History / Stories of the lads

The Men of The Tenth Battalion the Parachute Regiment were drawn from very diverse parts of society of the time. From officers of grand military families, regular army soldiers to farm boys, clerks, labourers and tradesmen.

Here we remember just a few of their stories:

  • Gerry Dimmock: 10th Battalion Para and ‘Loveable Rogue’
  • John ‘Jonny’ Stillwell: Local Hero
  • Harry ‘Darkie’ Houghton
  • Lieutenant Pat Glover – One Man’s 8 Days Of Hell
  • William Alexander Courcha: 10th Battalion Parachute Regiment
