‘80th COMMEMORATION’ EVENTS
SOMERBY, LEICESTERSHIRE
Saturday 7th September 2024:
At The 10th Battalion Memorial, Burrough on the Hill – Our annual ‘At the Going Down of the Sun’ Remembrance Service will take place as normal around 17.30. During the afternoon (before the service) and in the evening (after the service) we will hold a Marquee hospitality event with entertainment, a bar and food.
Sunday 8th September:
The Leicester Branch Parachute Regimental Association will host the parade, march, and church service in Somerby village.
OOSTERBEEK, THE NETHERLANDS (‘ARNHEM’)
Friday 20th September 2024: 09:30 to 13:00.
One not to be missed!
10th Battalion, Parachute Regiment Battlefield Tour – This is a FREE tour! Led by Grahame Warner, this will be a walking tour (2km in total), starting at the Pension d’Oude Herberg roundabout on Utrechtseweg and covering the locations and events of the Tenth during their time in the Perimeter. Planned finish at The Schoonoord at approx 13:00 for a beer and a chat.
Saturday 21st September:
A ‘come and meet us’ and sales merchandise stall at the Ginkel Heath DZ commemorations.
Sunday 22nd September:
Our usual wreath-laying ceremony at the 10th Battalion marker post at 192 Utrechteseweg. Leaving from the Schoonoord around 14:30
These are preliminary notices and we will be adding to and ‘fleshing out’ these events in the coming weeks.
